gemini and scorpio events

whether it’s a dance party in a Russian bathhouse or a Jazz Age-inspired shindig at a Brooklyn loft, party planners Gemini & Scorpio always manage to create events that simultaneously evoke the past and feel incredibly current
— TimeOut 2010 "Essential NY"

Gemini & Scorpio have been running the second-largest non-commercial New York City events list since 2002. They also create themed costume parties with live entertainment; the events are marked by offbeat themes, fantastic costumes, mind-blowing music, burlesque and circus performances, unique art and decor, and wild dancing into the morning, drawing 200-1,000 revelers to each event. G&S have been written up in The New York Times, NY Post, The Village Voice, and TimeOut NY, to name a few.

As the assistant of this amazing party producer I handled social media for the brand, researched suppliers for all manner of supplies and managed set up on site. G&S events are centered around performance and any given event might involve upwards of 30 performers, from brass bands to burlesque girls and aerialists. I managed set up at the venue during the day of the event, which entailed directing band members, supervising the rigging of aerial silks, arranging decor, overseeing deliveries and dealing with unexpected obstacles. Set up frequently involved last minute changes and quick thinking under pressure. I found the fast pace invigorating and was always thrilled to see the party come together. Meeting performers and musicians and coordinating with lighting technicians, venue managers and other staff required clear and thoughtful communication; orchestrating their efforts was one of my favorite aspects of my position. I managed a large team of volunteers before and during the event and became very comfortable delegating tasks. It was always amazing to be backstage putting something magical together; I still frequently attend G&S events and marvel.
